Studying young children’s thinking and their feelings has been my keen interest for many years.

This interest began with my study of constructivist theory and has particularly focused on the social constructivist approach of Reggio Emilia. My experiences as a classroom teacher, early childhood coordinator and adjunct professor in this exemplary educational approach led to my current position as a pedagogista, or pedagogical consultant. I work with various early childhood-related programs in the St. Louis metropolitan area, throughout the United States and, most recently, in China.

I also present at early childhood conferences, speaking on principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach and constructivist theory in early education.

I am a founding member of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance. I also continue my work as an adjunct professor at Webster University where, with colleagues, I have participated in designing a graduate certificate program, “Pedagogical Coordination in the Reggio Emilia Approach,” developed in partnership with educators from Reggio Children.
