Jennifer Strange is an early childhood consultant, experienced as a pedagogista in the Reggio Emilia Approach.
Jennifer Strange began her study of the Reggio Emilia Approach in 1991 when she was asked to serve on a committee of educators supporting the presentation of the traveling exhibit, “The Hundred Languages of Children." As a result of this experience, Jennifer subsequently joined a group of St. Louis educators to become a founding member of the St. Louis Reggio Collaborative.
As an early childhood educator and coordinator at The College School for children ages three years through thirteen years, Jennifer took the lead in organizing many Reggio-inspired events, experiences and delegation visits. Jennifer thus served as a mentor and advisor to colleagues, visiting professors, practicum/student teachers and interns from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Korea and Sweden.
In 1992, Jennifer began traveling to Reggio Emilia in order to further her understanding of this renowned approach to early education. Since this first visit, Jennifer has made more than fourteen visits to the remarkable schools of Reggio Emilia during the past twenty-five years.
As a consultant in the Reggio Emilia Approach since the early 2000s, Jennifer has worked with educators and architects in designing aesthetic and innovative early childhood settings. She has also worked alongside school leaders in constructing systems to support high-level thinking and learning with children, teachers and family members.
Jennifer has worked continuously with classroom educators in developing understanding and application of constructivist teaching that results in meaningful visible learning known as “documentation.” She has also supported many schools in presenting workshops and conferences related to their experiences in Reggio-inspired learning.
As a pedagogical consultant, or pedagogista, Jennifer particularly values the opportunity to participate and collaborate in varied educational settings.
